On March 6, Schuylkill County Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin sentenced the following defendants to county prison sentences:

John S. Roberts

, 57, Tamaqua, six to 23 months on a charge of terroristic threats. Since Roberts had already served the minimum time, he was given credit for time served since May 12, 2018, (299 days) and immediately paroled.

Roberts was also sentenced to six to 23 months on probation on count one of simple assault, to run concurrent with the terroristic threats charge; and 12 months on probation on count two of simple assault, to run consecutive to the terroristic threats and count one of simple assault.

Roberts had been arrested May 12, 2018, by Tamaqua Police Department officer Jeremy Sborz. Charges of aggravated assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, and additional terroristic threats and simple assault charges were dropped.

Roberts must pay $50 a month supervision fee and $50 CJEA and attend anger management classes. He may have no contact with his victims.

William David Lee

, 44, Tamaqua, was sentenced to six to 12 months for possession of a controlled substance. Lee has credit for time served from Oct. 10, totaling 149 days. He was also sentenced to 5½ to 11 months for possession of drug paraphernalia, to run consecutively.

A charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was dropped. Lee had been arrested Jan. 13, 2018, by Coaldale Police Department officer James Bonner.

Lee must also pay $50 a month supervision fee, $50 to CJEA, $100 to the substance abuse education fund, and a $50 bench warrant fee.

Andrew J. Allesch

, 28, Tamaqua, was sentenced to 72 hours to six months on a charge of DUI, stemming from an arrest Oct. 19, 2017, by Pennsylvania State Police, Frackville. Allesch was ordered to report to county prison March 8 and granted immediate parole after serving 72 hours. Allesch must pay $50 to CJEA, $100 to the substance abuse education fund, pay a $1,000 fine, pay $75 to MCARE and pay $520 restitution to Lehigh Valley Health Network-South. He will undergo a one-year license suspension, must attend Alcohol Safety School, and receive outpatient treatment for two to three months. He must serve 10 hours community service. He must also pay additional fines and fees totaling $379 on charges of driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked, and other driving citations.

Guilty plea

On March 6, Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin sentenced the following defendant, who entered a guilty plea:

Dylan D. Smolar

, 23, New Ringgold, sentenced to time served to 12 months on a charge of retail theft. Since Smolar had already served the minimum sentence, he was immediately paroled. He will remain on probation for 12 months on both the retail theft charge, and a second charge of possession of a controlled substance. Smolar must also pay $50 to CJEA, a state lab fee of $113, $100 to the substance abuse education fund and a bench warrant fee of $325. Smolar had been arrested Nov. 4, 2016, by Tamaqua Police Department officer Anthony Stanell.

Guilty at nonjury trial

Schuylkill County Judge James P. Goodwin found Joseph A. Spencer

, 46, Tamaqua, guilty of one count simple assault and one count summary mischief at a nonjury trial March 7. Spencer had been arrested by Tamaqua Police Department officer Karl Harig on March 15, 2018, and charged with two counts simple assault, two counts recklessly endangering another person and one count criminal mischief. Spencer is to have no contact with his victim. Sentencing is scheduled for 2 p.m. April 29.
