Schuylkill County court

The following were recently sentenced in Schuylkill County court.

Craig Michael Thomas

, 31, Drums, received a one to five-year county prison sentence and will pay hefty fines associated with two arrests for DUI in July 2017, according to a ruling issued by Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin on March 13. Thomas was arrested and charged with DUI by McAdoo police officer William Curilla on July 15 and July 17.

On the July 15 arrest, Thomas must pay a $1,500 fine, $300 to the substance abuse education fund, $150 to Mcare, and a $120 lab fee. He must complete Alcohol Highway Safety School and six to eight months treatment, complete 20 hours community service, undergo an 18-month license suspension and one-year ignition interlock.

On the July 17 arrest, Thomas received a sentence of one to five years, beginning March 13, with credit for 66 days of inpatient treatment. He must pay a $2,500 fine, $300 to the substance abuse education fund and $120 lab fee. That sentence also includes an 18-month license suspension and one-year interlock, completion of Alcohol Highway Safety School and six-eight months outpatient.

On Feb. 22, Baldwin placed David F. Hampson

, 29, Barnesville, on the Intermediate Punishment program. Hampson was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police-Frackville trooper Shawn Tray on April 20, 2018, and charged with DUI/controlled substance, DUI/controlled substance schedule two or three, and disregard of traffic lane.

Hampson will be on Intermediate Punishment for six months, which includes 15 days on house arrest with electronic surveillance, followed by 45 days strict supervision and four months on probation.

He must pay $520 to Lehigh Valley Health Network and pay a $1,000 fine, plus $100 to the substance abuse education fund, $75 to Mcare fund and $50 per month supervision fee. Hampson must complete Alcohol Highway Safety School and complete 10 hours community service. His license will be suspended for 12 months, followed by 12 months on ignition interlock.

On March 14, Schuylkill County Judge Charles M. Miller sentenced Vanardi Legrand Jr.

, 40, Mahanoy City, to six to 12 months on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Legrand’s sentence will begin April 22 and he must also pay $113 to the Bethlehem Regional Crime Lab, $50 to the CJEA and a bench warrant fee of $50. Legrand was arrested March 20, 2018 by Tamaqua police officer Mike Weaver.

On March 19, Schuylkill County Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin sentenced Jason Valez

, 19, Philadelphia, to pay fines on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and improper display of registration plates. Valez was arrested July 3, 2017, by Rush Township officer Ryan Oldt.

Valez must pay a $1,000 fine on the possession of paraphernalia charge, plus $150 in other fines and fees. On the improper display of registration plates, he must pay $102 in fines and fees.
