Schuylkill checkpoint results are listed

State police at the Frackville barracks said a checkpoint operated on Route 61 in Frackville on Sept. 7 resulted in 337 motorists being stopped.

Police said six of the operators were tested for driving under the influence while one was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

Police issued 21 citations and 26 warnings. In addition, a stolen vehicle was recovered and two felony arrests were made, one for a stolen vehicle and one for a person carrying a firearm without a permit.

Police said checkpoints will continue through Sept. 21 in the county. The program operated as troopers systematically stop vehicles at selected locations to briefly observe drivers for reasonable suspicion and/or behaviors normally associated with alcohol or drug-impaired drivers.

The goal of the checkpoints is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related fatalities and serious crashes and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania highways.
