Rush Township police

The Rush Township Police Department received a $3,000 grant from the Walmart foundation. Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky said that the funds will be used to purchase soft body armor for one officer and replacing two computer workstations for the patrol room.

Zipovsky reported that the department completed the triennial CLEAN audit conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police. The CLEAN audit is to ensure that the department is in compliance with its handling of restricted criminal justice information.

During January, Rush Township officers responded to 191 incidents and complaints, which included 39 traffic incidents/complaints, 13 ambulance assists, 4 suspicious persons, 4 requests for assistance, 3 disorderly persons/groups, 5 administrative assignments, 1 animal incident/complaint, 1 check of well-being of a person, 3 security alarm calls, 1 DUI, 2 special assignments, 1 warrant service, 2 reportable traffic crashes, 1 vehicle theft, 7 fire calls, 2 assault reports,1 burglary, 1 threat report, 2 hit-and-run reports, 5 nondeportable traffic crashes and 6 retail theft incidents. Officers made 7 criminal arrests and issued 19 traffic citations and 4 nontraffic citations.
