State Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, announced that he will seek re-election in the 122nd District.

“It’s truly an honor to serve the residents of the 122nd District,” Heffley said. “My top concern is for the taxpayers of Carbon County. I believe government must work for the people, not over them. I’m committed to creating opportunities for quality jobs, property tax relief and finding urgent solutions to the opioid and heroin epidemic.”

Protecting our seniors and working-class families throughout Carbon County by achieving property tax elimination remains Heffley’s top priority. This session, he serves on the House Appropriations, Commerce, Tourism and Transportation committees.

He was also reappointed to the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority, which is designed to assist startup tech companies across the state. These committees and boards are vital to the regional economy.

Heffley has been a leading voice in the state Legislature on combating opioid and prescription drug abuse.

He helped to create seven pieces of legislation that became law — propelling Pennsylvania to national leadership in the fight to prevent opioid overprescribing and the abuse of prescription drugs.

Recognizing that there is much more work to be done, he has authored legislation this session establishing a statewide detoxification treatment bed registry, which will ensure treatment access to those who need it. The bill recently passed the House.

After graduating from Lehighton Area High School, Heffley went on to Lincoln Technical Institute, where he received his associate degree in architectural drafting and design.

His nearly 20 years of experience in the trucking industry included overseeing more than 100 employees and helping companies to operate more efficiently.

An active member of his community, Heffley attends Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Trachsville and is a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 314, F&AM Lodge 621, Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club, Orioles Nest and the Indian Mountain Rod and Gun Club.
