Police: Kunkletown woman attacked her ex-boyfriend

A Kunkletown woman faces multiple assault charges after she attacked her ex-boyfriend.

Courtney Ann Stelmach, 27, of Mountain View Drive, was charged by Stroud Area Regional Police following the incident on Feb. 27.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were called to a home on Dreher Avenue for a physical domestic dispute.

They spoke with the victim, who told officers his ex-girlfriend, identified as Stelmach, got angry after he told her she was not allowed to stay at the residence.

Officers observed two lacerations on the victim’s shoulder and collarbone, and an injury to the back of his head that was bleeding. The victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Pocono campus for treatment.

The affidavit says Stelmach arrived at the victim’s apartment unannounced just before 4 a.m. with a briefcase full of clothing and expected to stay at the home.

The conversation was friendly until the victim told Stelmach she was not welcome. She began hitting the victim, took his phone away and picked up a mug or glass and struck him in the back of the head multiple times, causing him to lose consciousness momentarily.

When the victim regained consciousness, he saw Stelmach with a pair of scissors. She then cut him twice before he was able to get them away from her.

After the physical altercation, Stelmach grabbed some of the victim’s belongings and ran outside. He followed her. She then ran back into the residence and locked the victim out until he found an open bedroom window and climbed in.

Stelmach then left the residence through a rear bedroom door.

Stelmach is charged with two counts aggravated assault and one count each simple assault and harassment. She was arraigned before District Judge Daniel Kresge and is in Monroe County jail after failing to post bail, which was set at $100,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 15.
