Police investigate Lehigh crashes

State police at Fogelsville said a crash resulted in a driving under the influence charge.

A two-vehicle crash was reported at 8:19 a.m. on June 10 along Route 222 (Hamilton Boulevard) in Lower Macungie Township. Troopers said Vincent R. Bontempo, 25, of Brodheadsville, was stopped in the center turn lane facing west attempting to turn left. Eric M. Kishbaugh, 31, of Lawton, Oklahoma, was eastbound and traveled into the center lane with the front left of his 2018 Chrysler Pacifica hitting the front left of Bontempo’s 2011 Subaru Impreza.

No one was injured. Troopers said an investigation revealed that Kishbaugh was driving under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for DUI.

The second crash occurred at 3:09 p.m. Tuesday along Route 309 in Lynn Township. Troopers said Jeffrey Hyrovich, 48, of Walnutport, was northbound in the left lane when his 2002 Volkswagen Passat hydroplaned. The vehicle went across the southbound lane and struck a guiderail and a tree.

A passenger, Lora A. Smith, 50, of Andreas, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Cetronia ambulance personnel. Hyrovich was not injured. The vehicle was towed.

Troopers cited Hyrovich for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
