State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 7:52 p.m. on Jan. 26 at the intersection of Forest Inn Road and Boyer Farm Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Matthew A. Mohring, 24, of Northampton, was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer southbound on Forest Inn Road when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree and an embankment.

Mohring was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. He was then taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, by Lehighton ambulance with serious injuries.

Troopers said two passengers were in the vehicle but did not identify them. The vehicle was towed.
