Panther Valley Senior Center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Nov. 26-30 is:

Monday: Fish Florentine, scalloped potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, cookie or beef fajita salad

Tuesday: Minestrone soup, chicken Alfredo, fettuccine, spinach, sorbet or egg salad sandwich

Wednesday: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cottage cheese with fruit or chicken salad

Thursday: Pork, mashed squash, green beans, baked apples or turkey hoagie

Friday: Barbecue chicken, red potatoes, broccoli, rice pudding or tuna wrap

The center has also announced upcoming events for Nov. 26-30.

Zumba on Nov. 26 at 10 a.m.; Bingo on Nov. 27 at 11 a.m.; Put & Take on Nov. 28 at 11 a.m.; Baking Cookies on Nov. 29 at 9:30 a.m.; Cards on Nov. 30 at 10 a.m.

Library story hour

Panther Valley Public Library will hold preschool story hour at 10 a.m. every Tuesday through Dec. 18. Children ages 3-5 are invited to join us for a story, craft and snack. This program is free of charge.

No registration is necessary, just drop by the library to enjoy this fun-filled hour. For more information, call the library 570-645-3780.

Medicare

The Panther Valley Public Library will be providing assistance to seniors during open enrollment for Medicare.

You may be able to save money on your Medicare and prescription drug costs. We suggest you review your plan each year and we can help you. We will be offering this service at the library 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov 28.

Appointments must be scheduled through the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging. To schedule an appointment please call 800-441-1315.

Coaldale tax collection

Beginning January 2019, Portnoff Law Associates will be collecting the delinquent municipal taxes for Coaldale Borough. Schuylkill County will still collect the delinquent county and the funded debt tax.

Offices closed

Coaldale Borough secretary’s office and tax collector’s office will be closed Nov. 22 and 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Nesquehoning historical society

The regular monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning Historical Society will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 27 at the historical society home at 157 W. Railroad St. The topic of business will be the election of the new slate of officers for 2019.

For those who would like to officially join the Nesquehoning Historical Society, the dues are $10 per year. Payment can be made at the meeting.

For those who are unable to attend the meeting, but would still like to support the mission of the Nesquehoning Historical Society, dues may be mailed by check or money order to the Nesquehoning Historical Society, 157 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
