The Panther Valley school board introduced their newest members at a district meeting Thursday night.
Daniel Matika was named secretary and Marco D’Ancona was named vice president.
The board’s outlook for this upcoming term is to keep spending under control, give teachers tools needed to teach, prepare each student for the future and keep all students safe.
The board plans to continue fighting for more state funding to keep taxes under control.
“If we keep our taxes under somewhat of a control, maybe we can avoid hurting our senior citizens any more than we already have,” Matika said.
The upcoming regular board meeting dates are Jan. 16 and Feb. 13.
An additional board meeting will be scheduled before those dates to find another board member. Advertisements will be posted and Panther Valley Area residents can inform the board about anyone they think would be a good fit.
Superintendent Dennis R. Kergick welcomed both members to the board and wished them the best of luck.
The board officially accepted Kergick’s resignation at the board meeting. His retirement is effective as of June 30, 2020, the end of this school year.
