Palmerton school board

Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors took the following actions during their meeting Tuesday night:

• Accepted the single audit report dated June 30, 2019, as presented by Gorman and Associated, P.C.

• Approved the Lehigh Carbon Community College operating budget of $43,858,473 and capital budget of $10,763,307. The approval includes a provision that the total budgeted expenditures can be exceeded to the extent that the total revenue is exceeded. Palmerton’s total contribution will decrease $6,636, or 3.1%.

• Approved Berkheimer Associates of Bangor as the delinquent tax collector of the 2019-20 school year per capita taxes effective Jan. 1, 2020. There is no fee for the district. The fee is assessed to the taxpayer.

• Added Diane Smelas to the substitute secretary list.

• Accepted the retirement of Susan Parisi from her position of building secretary at Parkside Education Center, effective Aug. 27, 2020.

• Approved Angela Rivera as an elementary teacher substitute, effective Jan. 22, 2020.

• Approved Robin Klock as a part-time flex custodian at $13.82 per hour, effective Jan. 26, 2020.

• Approved the license agreement with The MT Pit for the drama club performance of “The Big Fish” retroactive to Jan. 7, 2020, at a cost of $800 to be paid by the drama club.

• Approved the license/rental agreement with Theatre World Backdrops for the drama club stage performance.

• Exonerated the current tax collectors listed below from the collection of the 2019-20 school year delinquent per capita taxes effective Jan. 1, 2020.
