Northwestern’s John McArdle finished in ninth place in the District 11 Class 3A boys pole vault on Sunday.

The event was held Sunday at Whitehall due to poor weather during the district meet last week.

McArdle cleared 12-3 to earn a top-10 finish.

Nazareth’s Ryan Fox won the event by clearing 14-3. Fox, along with runner-up Franco Perinotti of Parkland, advanced to states.

The 3A girls also held their pole vault finals on Sunday, with Saucon Valley’s Joslynn Rose taking first by clearing 11-0. Northampton’s Alexis Barrall finished second. The two will represent District 11 at states.

Lehighton’s Isabella Baka was the only area athlete to compete in the event.
