NORTHERN LEHIGH SCHOOL BOARD

Northern Lehigh School District approved the following action last week:

• Will spend $320,730 to replace/upgrade its existing network infrastructure districtwide, contingent upon receiving E-Rate funding. The additional cost over the E-Rate funding will be paid from the 2019-20 Assigned Technology Fund Balance.

• Memorandum of Understanding between the district and the administrative support staff to include the position of technology systems coordinator, and to set the salary for this position.

• Re-advertise and hire six summer workers and one supervisor. The rate for summer workers will not exceed $10 per hour, and the rate for the supervisor will not exceed $15 per hour.

• Apply for membership in the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce at a fee of $400 per year to be paid from the superintendent’s budget.

• Authorized the superintendent execute an agreement between the district and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 to provide special education services for the 2019-20 school year.

• The initial club/activity application for the High School Computer Programming Club. The club will advance students’ knowledge and understanding in computer programming. Students will work on small projects and work collaboratively to learn programming and possibly enter competitions. The club will meet once a week from 2:15-3:30 p.m.

• High school National Honor Society’s request for a field trip to New York City on May 31, to be funded by the Honor Society members.

• Gale Husack as the board’s CLIU representative, from July 2019 to June 2022.
