Nesquehoning woman charged after waving and pointing gun

A Nesquehoning woman is being charged after she pointed a gun at three people.

According to Nesquehoning police, on Jan. 9, patrolman Carl Breiner was called to the unit block of West Catawissa Street for a report of a woman waving a gun around during a disturbance.

When he arrived, he spoke with one of the three women, two of whom were juveniles.

They told Breiner they were in the area to exchange personal items with a female at a residence near the home of Dianna Anstead, 57, of West Catawissa Street but got into an argument with the person.

During the argument, Anstead intervened and brandished a gun, pointing it at the one woman from her porch.

When police confronted Anstead, who was still on her porch, she had a loaded .380 pistol on the chair on her porch.

Surveillance video of the scene showed Anstead raise the gun over her head and appear to pull the trigger. She then fumbles with the gun and appears to point it toward the three women.

The woman also told police Anstead made a comment about that they better leave or she would use the gun.

When asked if she pulled the trigger upon raising the gun over her head, Anstead told police that could not recall.

Anstead faces charges of terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.

She is scheduled to go before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek in Lansford on Feb. 20.
