Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary meets

The regular monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary to Post 8008 was held on Aug. 9, with President Christa Kattner presiding.

One new member application was received and approved for membership. General Orders 1 were read and filed for action. The workshop session was held in Harrisburg on Aug. 23-24; the national president made her official visit to Pennsylvania following the workshop.

A joint District meeting was scheduled for Lackawaxen Post on Aug. 18. The next District Meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sept. 15, hosted by the Walnutport Post and Auxiliary.

Thank you notes were read from the Nesquehoning Historical Society and Family Promise.

Under Community Service, 66 hours were reported for veterans and 95 hours for nonveterans. Thirty-two cards were sent since the last meeting. A request for the weekend of Nov. 1-3 has been made to Redner’s for the Veterans Day Buddy Poppy Days.

A donation to Family Promise was approved. The Auxiliary and Buddy Poppy King, Queen and Court will participate in the Veterans Day Parade, which will be held in Lehighton at 2 p.m. on Nov. 10.

Members are reminded that 2020 dues are now payable, and should be remitted as soon as possible.

The next regular meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Post home. All members are invited to attend.
