Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary holds regular monthly meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the VFW Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial Post 8008 was held on Nov. 12 at the post home. President Christa Kattner presided at the session.

General Orders 4 were read and filed for action. Also received was communication regarding Trees for Troops.

District 20 met on Nov. 19 at Stroudsburg Post.

Forty cards were sent by members present. Kattner attended the Valor stand down program recently in Lansford for homeless veterans and was very impressed with what the organization does.

One incomplete entry was turned in for the Voice of Democracy program and was disqualified.

The Veterans Day parade, hosted by Nesquehoning, went well, although the weather was cool and wet.

The annual children’s Christmas party will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday; preregistration was required. The annual auxiliary Christmas party will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, at Lengyel’s. The UVO met on Nov. 30.

Donations were made to Trees for Troops and Toys for Tots.

Kattner was congratulated for her recent award to a non-veteran by the Carbon County Veterans Council.

Members are reminded that 2018 dues are payable and should be paid by Dec. 15 to ensure they reach department on time; members can also go online at www.vfwauxiliary.org and pay their own dues.

The next meeting will be the Christmas party on Dec. 14; contact Christa or Maureen if you are planning to attend and have not already made your reservation.
