Nesquehoning burn ordinance reminder issued

Nesquehoning residents are reminded that there are rules in place in the borough regarding outdoor burning.

John McArdle, borough emergency management coordinator, said that some people have been burning already and he reminds residents of the borough’s burning ordinance.

According to the ordinance, fires in fire pits are permitted during any day of the week during the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day between 6 and 11 p.m. For the remainder of the year, fires in pits are only permitted on holidays, as well as Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 5 and 10 p.m.

McArdle said residents cannot burn leaves or anything under the prohibited items of the ordinance.
