N. Lehigh rejects early retirement incentive plan

Northern Lehigh School District will once again not offer an early retirement incentive plan.

On an 8-0 vote, the school board on Monday rejected the adoption of the plan, which would have been for all eligible professional employees of the Northern Lehigh Education Association, on a voluntary basis, for the 2018-19 school year.

Financial

• Accepted the resignation of Robert A. Treskot as Walnutport Borough tax collector, effective Dec. 31, 2018.

• Approved the resolution to appoint Scott Stauffer as Walnutport tax collector, effective Jan. 2, due to the resignation of Treskot.

• Approved the request of Peters Elementary School to close their Market Day account, which is no longer in existence, in accordance with the Student Activities Fund guidelines. The account balance is $9,326, and the funds will be transferred to the Student Activities account.

• Granted permission to sell to Sycamore International Inc., obsolete technology equipment (televisions, computers and computer access points) with a combined value more than $100.

• Approved Michele Dotta to attend the PDE Conference 2019 Making a Difference: Educational Practices that Work!, March 11-13, Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, registration, $179; lodging, $293; meals, $50; and travel, $91, for a total cost of about $613 to be funded through the Special Education budget.

• Approved Rhonda Frantz to attend the 64th Annual PASBO Conference March 5-8, Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Harrisburg, registration, $349; and meals, $95, for a total cost of about $444 to be funded from the business office budget.

• Approved Shawn Green to attend the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association Annual Conference, March 28-30, Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, registration, $250; and lodging, $389, for a total cost of about $639 to be funded from the Slatington Elementary Instructional Staff Development budget.

• Approved Sherri Molitoris to attend the 64th annual PASBO Conference, March 5-8, Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, registration, $349; lodging, $593; meals, $95; and travel, $103, for a total cost of about $1,140 to be funded from the business office budget.

• Approved Molitoris to attend the 33rd Annual PASPA Conference: We’ve Got You Covered, Feb. 27-March 1, Harrisburg-Hershey Sheraton Hotel, Harrisburg, registration, $593; lodging, $294; meals, $25; and travel $99, for a total cost of about $1,012 to be funded from the business office and human resources budget.

• Approved Nicole Nightlinger to attend the PDE Conference 2019 Making a Difference: Educational Practices that Work!, March 11-13, Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, registration, $179; and meals, $50, for a total cost of about $229 to be funded from the Special Education budget.

• Approved Krystle-Dawn Tiedeman, Pennsylvania School Librarians Association Annual Conference, March 28-30, Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, registration, $250; lodging, $389; travel, $86; and meals, $65, for a total cost of about $790 to be funded from the high school instructional staff development budget.
