Monroe approves multiple Children and Young service contracts

The Monroe County Children and Youth agency has one of the largest budgets administered by the county.

On Wednesday the commissioners approved a number of purchase of services agreements for the agency for the previous fiscal year:

• Community Services Foundation Inc. for a maximum amount of $90,000

• Clear Vision Residential Treatment Services Inc. for a maximum of $50,000

• George Junior Republic for a maximum of $600,000

• Families United Network Inc. for a maximum of $3,000

• Vision Quest for a maximum of $500,000

• BI Incorporated for a maximum of $10,000

• Access Services Inc. for a maximum of $10,000

• Open Door International Inc. for a maximum of $70,000

• The Bair Foundation for a maximum of $85,000

• Family Care for Children and Youth Inc. for a maximum of $ 85,000

BI Incorporated was also approved for $10,000 for July 1 through June 30, 2019.

The commissioners also accepted a grant in the amount of $2,661.49 for an upgrade to the alarm system at the Loder Senior Center. A proposal for $ 7,896 was accepted to replace the carpeting in the court administration office.

Brian LaVacca was appointed to the Monroe County Homeless Advisory Board with a term to expire on Nov. 11, 2020. The commissioners also sent letters of nomination for Jarrod Belvin and Dale R. Fetterly to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for appointment to the Monroe County Local Emergency Planning Committee.

Patricia Kennedy was appointed to the Monroe County Planning Commission to fill the unexpired term of Meg Dilger through June 2019.

The commissioners also acknowledged youth from each of the county school districts who had recently been awarded with the Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce Youth Appreciation Award.

“We all attended this ceremony and we were impressed,” said Chairman John Moyer. “Each of these young people had overcome great odds and adversity that would have sunk most adults.”

• Olivia Jackson, Pocono Mountain West High School

• Debra Humphrey, Pocono Mountain East High School

• Carolyn Baker, Monroe Career and Technical Institute

• Ryan Garnes, East Stroudsburg South High School

• Christian Kiriluk, Pleasant Valley High School
