The Jim Thorpe Post Office announced yesterday the appointment of William W. Hiller, 241 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe, as the new assistant postmaster. He was named following the retirement of Charles M. Magee.
A graduate of Jim Thorpe High School and a veteran with 3½ years with the U.S. Air Force during World War II, he was a substitute mail carrier in 1948 and became a regular carrier in 1953.
He has served as a YMCA director and an elder of the First Presbyterian Church, both of Jim Thorpe and both for 18 years, and is also a director of the Kemmerer Memorial Playground Association.
He is married to the former Rita Ross. They are the parents of three children, Donna, George and Thomas.
