A look back: Aug. 6, 1962

More than 10,000 people attended the 34th Annual Italian Day program yesterday at Lakewood Park, honoring the Right Rev. Monsignor Francis Molino, rector of the Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.

Paul D’Ortona, president of the Philadelphia City Council, was the main speaker.

Other speakers included attorney Joseph G. Greco of Nesquehoning and attorney Albert P. Leonzi of Summit Hill, program co-chairmen; Frank Romano of Weatherly; and State Police Commissioner Frank McCartney.

The Rev. Agnello J. Angelini, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Nesquehoning, said the program affords families the opportunity to extol the bonds of friendship between the U.S. and Italy.
