Northwestern continued its strong play on the diamond, as its baseball and softball teams posted wins over Salisbury on Monday.

Meanwhile, Jim Thorpe’s baseball squad clinched a district playoff berth with a victory, while Northern Lehigh gained wins over Catasauqua in both baseball and softball action.



Northwestern’s Carter Welch threw a one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts to lead the Tigers to a 9-0 Colonial League victory over Salisbury.

Connor Snyder led the winners (17-2; 15-1) with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.

Colten Hagadus contributed two hits and knocked in three runs, while Nick Henry finished with two hits, two RBIs and a pair of runs.

A five-run first inning propelled Northern Lehigh to a 5-2 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.

Luke Eitner went the distance for the Bulldogs, scattering eight hits and walking three while striking out 10.

Brandon Hess had a two-run single for the Bulldogs (6-12; 4-11), while Chase Misera added two hits, a run and an RBI. Josh Kistler contributed two hits and an RBI, and Alec Berger chipped in with a pair of hits.

Tamaqua-Pine Grove

Brayden Knoblauch picked up the win and also slugged a home run in Tamaqua’s 7-2 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.

Knoblauch pitched all seven innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out eight. He also added two hits at the plate.

Nate Boyle collected two hits, one a double, and two RBIs, while Gavin Richards knocked in a pair of runs. Tate Ligenza chipped in with a double and an RBI.

The Blue Raiders concluded their season with a 5-15 record, 3-9 in the league.

Jim Thorpe clinched a district playoff berth with a 3-2 Schuylkill League victory over Pottsville.

Colin Binder’s RBI single in the fifth inning snapped a tie and produced the game-winning run.

Jared Marykwas went the distance on the mound for the Olympians (9-10; 6-5), allowing just four hits and two walks while fanning one.

Jake Schwartz had two hits and an RBI for Thorpe. Zach Searfoss chipped in with a hit and two runs.

Pleasant Vy.-Stroudsburg

Pleasant Valley was held to just two hits in a 2-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference loss to Stroudsburg.

Winning pitcher Dylan Budhai and Benjamin Stokes combined on the shutout. PV’s Dan McEvoy pitched well in defeat, striking out six in six innings.

Nick Ciszak and Dallas Greenzweig each had a hit for the Bears (11-7).

An 11-run third-inning helped Northern Lehigh roll to an 18-0 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Lauren Hoffman had three hits, one a homer, three runs and four RBIs for the Bulldogs (7-12; 4-11).

Brianna Schuck contributed three hits, two runs and three RBIs for the winners, while Katie Yesik added three hits and four RBIs.

Kendall Heiney and Alicia Horn combined on a four-inning no-hitter. The two also recorded 11 of the 12 outs via strikeout.

Ashley Sisco had two hits and knocked in two runs to help Northwestern earn a 3-2 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

Emily Akelaitis pitched a three-hitter and struck out six for the Tigers (16-3; 13-2). Akelaitis also had a hit and scored two runs.

For the Falcons, Molly Silberman ruined the shutout with a two-run homer in the seventh.

In a battle of Colonial League powers, Southern Lehigh pulled out a 5-1 victory over Palmerton.

Cassie Yesalonia had two hits and an RBI for the Spartans (17-2; 13-2), while Jessica Beltz limited the Bombers’ high-scoring offense to just one run.

Madison Finley had a pair of hits for Palmerton (15-4; 11-4).

Pottsville knocked off Jim Thorpe for a 13-1 Schuylkill League win.

Victoria Fuss had two hits and two RBIs for the winners, while Sammy Brennan knocked in three runs.

For the Olympians (2-17; 1-12), Nadya Solimon finished with two hits. Victoria DeFazio added a single and an RBI. Jada Mahmde chipped in with a double.

Lyddia Malaska had the only hit for the Panthers (5-11; 2-10) and also stole a base.

The Golden Bears received three doubles from Allison Scheeler, and two doubles and three RBIs from Payton Martin.

A six-run sixth inning powered Pine Grove to an 11-5 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

Maura Lehman had four hits and knocked in three runs for the Cardinals.

For the Blue Raiders (10-8; 7-6), Jada Schellhammer had two hits, one a triple, and three RBIs. Miranda Chinchar belted a home run, knocked in two runs and scored twice. Jen Frederickson scored two runs, while Lexi Thomas had a double and a run.

Marian scored 12 runs over the final three innings to rally from an early deficit and gain a 13-5 Schuylkill League win over Weatherly.

Macey Alansky had three hits, one a triple, two runs and two RBIs for the Fillies (9-8; 7-5), while Lyndsey Rienoehl finished with three hits, one a double, and three runs.

The winners also received two hits from both Eden Arnold, Mia Nemeth, Abigail Joy and Lacey Blasko.

For the Wreckers (7-11; 3-9), Corra Chincola had three hits.

Stroudsburg collected 11 hits to help gain a 7-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

Jamie Bittiger had two hits, one a double, and knocked in two runs for the Mounties. Regan Englehart added a pair of hits, one a double, and an RBI.


Moravian A.-Pleasant Vy.

Jules Lopez scored eight goals to help Pleasant Valley end its regular season with a 21-9 victory over Moravian Academy.

Alexandra Bush contributed five goals and five assists, while Brielle McInaw collected five goals.

The Bears (14-4) also received two goals from Hayle Stintsman and one from Ashleigh Rakoski.

Goalie Danni Reino made five saves for PV.


Northampton-Pleasant Vy.

Northampton registered a 15-7 victory over Pleasant Valley.
