Tamaqua’s swim team registered a sweep, while its boys basketball team also posted a victory on Tuesday.

Other area winners in boys basketball included Palmerton, Weatherly and Lehighton. Marian lost its game, but Tyler Fritz reached a milestone by scoring his 1,000th career point.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Marian-Nativity

Marian’s Tyler Fritz made history, but Nativity walked away with a 66-58 Schuylkill League win.

Fritz scored his 1,000th career point, finishing with 28 on the night. Before the accomplishment, Fritz drained a three-pointer to record the Colts’ 100,000th point in the program’s history.

Dante Agosti added 13 points for Marian (6-6), while Kegan Hertz led the Hilltoppers (5-5) with 17 points.

Notre Dame ES-Palmerton

Palmerton finished strong for a 78-60 non-league victory over Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg.

The Bombers’ Justin Hosier led all scorers with 32 points, while Nate Dougherty followed with 23. Palmerton (7-5) also received 17 points from Kody Kratzer.

Dylan Parris led the Spartans (7-3) with 17 points.

North Schuylkill-Tamaqua

Lucas Gregoire netted a game-high 22 points to propel Tamaqua to a 65-43 Schuylkill League victory over North Schuylkill.

Brayden Knoblauch chipped in with 19 points for the Blue Raiders (8-3), while Michael Bontesky contributed 11.

The Spartans (4-6) received 14 points from Zack Stokes.

An 18-point fourth quarter helped Weatherly pull out a 61-52 Schuylkill League win over Shenandoah Valley.

Scotty Zoscin sparked the Wreckers (6-5) with 32 points, while Mason Gerhart finished with nine.

Evan Kosar led the Blue Devils (0-8) with 16 points.

Lehighton-Pine Grove

Lehighton used the middle frames to gain a 57-48 Schuylkill League win over Pine Grove.

Zach Hunsicker tallied a game-high 14 points for the Indians, who outscored the Cardinals by a 33-16 margin in the second and third quarters. Lehighton (4-8) also received 12 points from both Addison Howland and Devon Haydt.

Jim Thorpe-Blue Mountain

A stretch of eight straight wins lifted Blue Mountain to a 44-21 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

The Eagles posted wins from 120 to 170 pounds to turn a 6-3 deficit into a 44-6 advantage.

The Olympians (2-1) received a technical fall from Austin Williams (182), and a major decision from Kendall Herron (195).

Tamaqua-Mahanoy Area

Tamaqua swept a Schuylkill League meet against Mahanoy Area.

The Blue Raiders cruised to a 61-19 win in the boys meet, and swam away with a 93-20 victory on the girls side.

Tamaqua’s Gauge Hartney touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Zeno Zukovich (100 Free) and Ian Machay (100 Back) also picked up wins.

Madelyn Jones won multiple events for the Lady Raiders, with wins in the 200 and 500 freestyle.

Maura Walker (200IM), Brianna Dumond (50 Free), Sarah Maue (100 Fly) and Kayla Sherry (100 Breaststroke) all posted first-place finishes for Tamaqua.
