The Jim Thorpe and Pleasant Valley girls’ tennis opened the season with victories on Monday.

Elsewhere, Lehighton and Palmerton posted victories in golf action.

Jim Thorpe opened the regular season with a 5-0 victory over Tamaqua.

The Olympians’ trio of Christy McLean, Kaitlyn O’Neil and Trista Gehris swept singles’ play.

Pleasant Valley edged Northampton 4-3 in the Eastern Conference opener.

Hope Hoppe and Rebecca Makiedes picked up victories at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively for the Bears.

The No. 3 doubles team of Julia DeYoung and Ehrin Frable rallied to win in a tiebreaker. Pleasant Valley’s No. 2 doubles team of JP Polak and Kara Thourot also pikced up a win.

The Indians’ Jack Lorenz earned medalist honors with an 81, while Aaron Miller followed with an 85.
