Local police hold memorial

Schuylkill-Carbon Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 13 held its annual Memorial Day service Monday night at the FOP Grove on Owl Creek Road in Tamaqua. Summit Hill Chief Joseph Fittos, Nesquehoning patrolman Timothy Wuttke and David Everly, Regional Sobriety Checkpoint Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Traffic Safety Network conducted the service. The service ended with the traditional gun salute by Patrolmen Anthony Campanell, Vince Morrow, Derek Marouchoc and Det. Josh Tom, all of the Lansford Police Department, and patrolmen Glenn Laninger of the Nesquehoning Police Department, and Rick Compton and Todd Woodward of the Summit Hill Police Department. The lodge represents full-time officers from departments in Tamaqua, Lehighton, Lansford, Coaldale, Summit Hill, McAdoo, Jim Thorpe, Port Carbon and Nesquehoning, and Rush, Mahoning, Kline and Franklin townships. Taps was played by Tamaqua patrolman Michael Hobbs. The lodge represents full-time officers from departments in the boroughs of Tamaqua, Lehighton, Lansford, Coaldale, Summit Hill, McAdoo, Jim Thorpe, Port Carbon and Nesquehoning, and the townships of Rush, Mahoning, Kline and Franklin.
