Local Baseball Roundup: Results from June 11

Northern Valley pulled out a win over Lower Macungie in Lehigh Valley Legion action Tuesday, while Jim Thorpe posted a victory in a Connie Mack league contest.


Northern Vy.-Lower Mac

Nick Henry’s RBI double in the top of the seventh inning broke a tie game and lifted Northern Valley to a 4-3 victory over Lower Macungie.

Aaron Rudolph had two hits and knocked in two runs for the Chargers, while Derek Holmes added a pair of hits and a run. Colten Hagadus and Christopher Lucykanish both chipped in with a hit and a run.

Lucykanish pitched two scoreless innings of relief to gain the win. Starter Justin Holmes tossed five frames, allowing just two hits while fanning six.

Emmaus-Jim Thorpe

Ian Hubbard and Jared Marykwas each collected three hits to help lead Jim Thorpe to an 11-4 victory over Emmaus.

Marykwas drove in two runs and scored twice, while Hubbard stole three bases.

The winners also received a pair of hits, one a double, from Jared Joyce. DJ Richebacher earned the pitching win, striking out seven over four innings.

Coplay-Northern Valley

Coplay used two big innings to gain a huge lead and then cruised to a 20-8 victory over Northern Valley.

Brock Boyer had three hits and five RBIs for the winners.

For Northern Valley, Ryan Kensinger finished with three hits and three runs, while Cole Hausman collected three hits and knocked in two runs. The Chargers also received two hits and three RBIs from Chase Misera.

Berlinsville-Martins Creek

Berlinsville managed just three hits in a 3-0 loss to Martins Creek.

Winning pitcher Brian Ernst had a no-hitter after four innings and finished with 13 strikeouts. Brandon Mazzie hit a three-run homer for the only scoring in the game, while Pleasant Valley product Dallas Greenzwieg had a hit for the Creekers.
