Lin named Jimmy Rane Foundation scholar

Jenny Lin of Nesquehoning was recently named a recipient as a Jimmy Rane Foundation scholar.

Lin is among 36 students selected to receive a scholarship from the foundation this year.

A 2017 graduate of Panther Valley Senior High School, Lin will be a sophomore at Lehigh this fall and is majoring in finance.

“Scholarship money is very important in pursuing my college plans,” Lin said. “Without it, I would be in lots of student debt — something that every college student is fearful of. I’m also really grateful that receiving scholarship money would mean less money for my parents to pay out of pocket.”

While in high school, Lin earned a 4.02 GPA and was actively involved in campus organizations. She served as vice president of the National Honor Society, treasurer of Future Business Leaders of America, treasurer of the Student Government Association, and co-captain of Aevidum, among other activities.

Her community service included serving as a Toys for Tots volunteer, a Meed’s Methodist Church volunteer and an Elementary School Fun Day volunteer.

At Lehigh, she is serving as treasurer of the Residence Hall Council.

“It is such an honor to be selected as a recipient of the Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship,” Lin said.

The Jimmy Rane Foundation has awarded 383 college scholarships since its establishment in 2000.
