Lehighton police investigate thefts

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a burglary and theft incidents.

The break-in occurred at a cabin off Lower Smith Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township. A 46-year-old man from New Holland, Lancaster County, reported his cabin was entered through a side window. Once inside the suspects took a set of keys that were hanging on a hook in the basement area. They proceeded to a garage where the removed a Stihl weed eater, two five-gallon containers of gasoline and diesel fuel, a Bosch finishing cut saw, a Honda generator and various tools. Total estimated value of the missing items is $3,163. The incident was reported on May 25.

The theft occurred at the Dollar General Store located off Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 41-year-old woman from Saylorsburg reported she laid her iPhone down while in the store and someone took it. The incident was reported on May 28 at 10:30 p.m. Value of the phone was set at $700.
