St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Drive W., Lehighton:

Worship service: 9 a.m. Sunday with Communion and 6:30 p.m. July 7, with Communion.

Heritage weekend: July 6, 7 and 8, St. John’s will be participating as a food vendor in Lehighton’s Heritage Weekend. We will need donations for baked goods, monetary donations, food item donations would be 5-pound boxes of D&W hot dogs, hot dog buns, ketchup, yellow mustard, onions, sodas and ice. There will be a sign-up sheet in the narthex to help in the stand and at the church. We will need people at the church to make Persian donuts and to package and box the baked goods for transport. Suggested items needed for bake sale would be cookies, brownies, Rice Krispie treats, molasses or crumb cakes, etc. All supplies should be at the church by July 1. Fundraising meeting: There will be no fundraising meeting during July and August. The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12.

Food pantry: Food pantry items for July are pasta and they will be collected July 1 and 8 and for August are macaroni & cheese and they will be collected Aug. 5 and 12.

Joy at St. John’s: Come and join the J O Y (Just Older Youth) of St. John’s as we visit the Carbon County Environmental Education Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 10. Walk the boardwalk, bring your lunch, eat at the pavilion and check out the displays and so forth in the building. For information, call 570-386-4181. Everyone is welcome. Bring your kids along.
