Leadership Carbon tours local firms

Leadership Carbon, an adult leadership development program of the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development, took a tour of several businesses in Carbon County last week.

Among them was Hydra-Tech Pumps in Nesquehoning. Others were Architectural Polymers in Aquashicola, the Lehighton Outdoor Center and Sharps Compliance Inc., a medical waste firm in Nesquehoning.

The nine-month program of Leadership Carbon has 14 members this year, said Kathy Henderson, director of economic development.

Also on the tour of the facilities was Linda Rex, program coordinator.

Henderson said this year Leadership Carbon did more industry tours than in the past.

She said the class was impressed that Hydra-Tech does business globally, shipping its products to countries as far away as Asia and Europe.

Leadership Carbon is designed to cultivate new local leaders for the benefit of Carbon County’s future, she said.
