Lansford cleanup planned

Lansford Alive and the Lansford Historical Society have teamed up to conduct a spring cleanup in town this Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.

Lansford Alive will meet at Kennedy Park and tackle the park, Route 209, Dock Street and sections of the business district. The historical society will meet at the Welsh church on the 200 block of West Abbott Street and clean up around the church and nearby areas. Both organizations registered for the Great American Cleanup of PA program and were provided gloves, vests and garbage bags from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

This will be the first year the historical society has taken part in the cleanup, while Lansford Alive has conducted cleanups in town for over 15 years. The cleanup will run until noon.

People who wish to help out with the cleanup can either show up at the Welsh church or Kennedy Park at 9 a.m. Individuals who have community service to complete can also take part to receive credit.
