Kidder chief discusses card skimming

At the Kidder Township Supervisors meeting on Thursday, police Chief Matthew Kuzma brought up the recent credit card skimming that was discovered at the Exxon at the corner of Routes 534 and 903.

Last week, Kidder Township police began an investigation into the devices after it was learned that Square One Markets has been compromised.

At that time, police urged customers to look for signs of tampering or new equipment installed before using a gas pump; as well as to keep their eye on their bank account for unknown activity.

Kuzma said that the skimming devices have not been recovered and may be inside the pumps.

He suggested that it is safest to use the chip technology rather than swiping your card and to use the credit rather than debit feature.

The investigation is ongoing.

Victims are asked to call police at 570-722-0192 to file a report.
