Class luncheon

Members of the 1964 class of Jim Thorpe High School will hold their luncheon this month at the Fogelsville Hotel, Fogelsville, at noon on Wednesday. Before lunch, a brief meeting will take place. Discussed will be the events of the past year, this year’s Christmas gathering and upcoming events for 2018. There will also be a special presentation. Attire for the month is a blazer or sport-coat and blue jeans.

Toys for Tots

The annual Schuylkill-Carbon Marine Corps League Toys for Tots campaign will get undeway on Friday. Registration will take place on the following dates, Friday and Saturday, and Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salem Bible Fellowship Church, 1105 Frederick’s Grove Road, Lehighton. This is the only location for registration; no phone calls will be accepted.

To ensure that a family is eligible for the program, there must be a letter from your church, proof of public assistance or proof of unemployment. Only parents or legal guardians are permitted to register children. The person registering the children must have ID for themselves. In addition, legal guardians must have proof of guardianship. You must have a current, local resident photo ID to prove your Carbon County residence. For each child being registered, a birth certificate is required. The age limit is 14 years; and 16 years for handicapped children.

Gold Ticket winners

The Gold Ticket winners for the month of September and October at L.B. Morris school have been announced. They are: Lindsay Patton, Jennifer Valdez, Kelsey Patton, Randy Fischer, Alicana Aponte, Alexis Strohl, Ehren Hassler, Aubrey Holland, Luca DelVechhio and Ada Finsel.

Free community dinner

The next free community dinner will be held on Sunday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Race Street, from 4 to 6 p.m. The meal will be a turkey feast. Any questions, call 570-325-2241.
