Ecumenical Bible study

An Ecumenical Women’s Bible Study will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Avenue, on Sept. 26 in the Good Shepherd Room. The evening will begin at 7 p.m. They will be studying the book of Ephesians.

Community supper

Sunday is the next free community dinner to be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Race Street. The menu for this month is pork and sauerkraut, and the meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information, call 570-325-2241.

Picnic in the Park

Members of St John’s Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold their annual Picnic in the Park and Worship service on Sept. 29. It will take place at Memorial Park, and they will be joined by members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Street. Members are to please sign up with your menu items and how many will be attending. This is so they can plan the menu of fried chicken, drinks and ice cream bar. The church service will begin at 10:30 a.m. There will be a cake walk and bingo with prizes. If interested, contact your church.

Switchback Scamper

The 49th annual Switchback Scamper 10K run and 5K walk will take place on Oct. 20, with race time at 2 p.m. The course will begin in Summit Hill Borough and end at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park. Registration/packet pickup will be at Mauch Chunk Lake Park-Wildoner/Koch Pavilion from noon to 1:30 p.m. You may sign up online at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Jim Thorpe/TheSwitchbackScamper.
