Franklin Township supervisors took the following action this week:

• Approved the amended application for the Evergreen Road Phase II Project and requested 50% of $9,898 in advance.

• On a 2-0 vote with an abstention from board Chairman Jason Frey (who applied for the position), hired a full-time road crew employee, beginning July 8, at the starting rate of $15.25 per hour. The board has not released the name of the employee.

• Approved junkyard permit application renewal for Lehighton Scrap Recycling.

• Announced there will be no change in the garbage collection for the July 4 Holiday.

• The Franklin Township Lions Club will have the Franklin Fire Police assist with parking and traffic control on Sunday for the Spring Fling Concert to be held at the Phifer’s Ice Dam Park.

• The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company will stand by at Sunny Rest Resort for their annual fireworks display on July 7.

• The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company members will participate in the Mahanoy City Fire Company on June 21, and Tuscarora Fire Company parade on July 27.

• Approved a request from the Lehighton Band to hold two free summer concerts at the Phifer’s Ice Dam Park on July 13 and Aug. 15.
