Police are investigating a crash that occurred Friday in Franklin Township.

Township police Chief Jason Doll said the incident occurred just before 9 a.m. when Jeffrey Sharp, 20, was operating his 2012 Honda along the 2000 block of Long Run Road.

Doll said that upon arrival, Sharp was initially unresponsive. Sharp later refused medical attention, Doll said.

Doll said the impact from the crash snapped the bottom off a telephone pole.

The vehicle was completely disabled, he said.

Sharp was taken into custody by police and transported to Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton for a blood test. Doll said DUI charges are pending results.

He said police were assisted by Beltzville rangers, Franklin Township Fire Company, Franklin Township fire police, and Lehighton EMS.
