Franklin Township places second in the Edward Neifert Memorial 9-Year-Old All-Star Tournament

The team posted a 4-2 record in the tournament, falling to Valley West 4-3 in the final on July 14. After an opening round setback against Hazleton, Franklin posted four straight wins to reach the championship game. Franklin rebounded after falling to Hazleton, racking up 12 hits in a 21-6 win over Orwigsburg. Franklin Township had a pair of hits from Brayden Ulshafer, Noah McGinley, Parker Rodgers and Braylon Hunsicker. Franklin kept the bats rolling with 14 hits in a 20-9 victory over SPN in its next game. Chase Llewellyn had three hits, while Brock Atwood, Rodgers and McGinley added a pair of singles. In its second game of the day, Franklin got a measure of revenge against Hazleton, pulling out a 13-12 victory. After trailing 12-1, Franklin tallied 12 straight runs, capped by a walk-off bases loaded triple by Hunsicker. Franklin held on for an 11-9 win over Tamaqua to advance into the championship game. Against Valley West, Alex Bedocs paced Franklin with a pair of hits, while Ulshafer had a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth.
