February 15, 1997 — Tamaqua’s Theresa Ferry wins a pair of gold medals and the Blue Raiders also capture the girls team title at the Schuylkill All-League swimming championships. Ferry touches the wall first in the 50 breastsroke (33.79) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.09), and is part of the winning 200 medley relay team (2:00.26) that sets a new school, meet and county record. She also aids the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:49.05) that establishes a new school mark. Stephanie Lisella earns gold in the 100 individual medley, while Joelle Evanousky takes first in the 50 backstroke.
