Darius Rucker to perform at Musikfest
Multiplatinum country star and Hootie & the Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker is the first performer announced for Musikfest’s 37th year, headlining the festival at 7 p.m. on Aug. 8, at the Wind Creek Steel Stage.
Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.
Returning to Musikfest after headlining the festival in 2013 and 2015, Rucker has had four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country charts and nine No. 1 singles on country radio since releasing his first country album in 2008.
In 2014, he won his third career Grammy Award for Best Solo Country Performance for his platinum-selling cover of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel.”
Most recently, Rucker completed a 44-city tour with his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of their mega-hit album “Cracked Rear View,” as well as the release of “Imperfect Circle,” their first album in nearly 15 years. The Group Therapy Tour was the band’s first full-scale tour in more than a decade.
