Carbon County planners this week reviewed two plans for projects in Towamensing and Mahoning townships but made no formal recommendations regarding if they should be approved.

Ivan O. Meixell, county planner, outlined his findings in the two plans — All American Concrete and Radical Wine Company — to the board and the companies’ owners.

In All American Concrete’s plan, which calls for constructing a 60-by-80-foot pole building for repairing and maintaining the company vehicles and storing equipment, Meixell found 20 items that didn’t comply with the township’s subdivision and land development ordinance that should be addressed before Towamensing Township signs off on the plans.

Sean F. Policelli, project manager for Gilmore and Associates of Allentown, the engineer for Michael and Crystal Fink, owners of All American Concrete, said that many of the plan comments have already been addressed.

The planning commission’s report will be sent to Towamensing Township for inclusion in further discussions.

In the Radical Wine Company plan, Barry and Connie Christman want to construct a 333.4-square-foot addition onto its building at 511 Mahoning Drive East for use as a bathroom facility.

Meixell said there are 15 areas in the plan that should be addressed, including resolving the issue of water service since the existing line to the site is owned by the now defunct New England Motor Freight.

The commission’s comments will now be sent to Mahoning Township.
