Credit defaults

The following actions were filed by credit card companies, or their collection agencies, for alleged defaults on credit card/loan accounts.

Synchrony Bank, Canonsburg, filed two actions as follows: Robin Peake, 201 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, seeking $1,502.26; and Theresa Kociolek, 35 W. Hazard St., Summit Hill, seeking $2,646.41.

LVNV Funding, Greenville, South Carolina, filed against Carla Bortz, 27 Main Road, Lehighton, seeking $1,507.70.

Midland Funding, Horsham, filed two actions as follows: Ashley Ostrander, 430 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, seeking $833.79; and Robert Helmer, 76 Berwick St., Beaver Meadows, seeking $1,205.82.

Loan default

Ally Financial Inc., Detroit, Michigan, filed an action against April L. Stevens, 308 E. Snyder Ave., Lansford, alleging she defaulted on a motor vehicle contract (loan). Sought is $8,303.50 plus interest, costs and fees.

Officer sues

The police chief of Beaver Meadows has filed a civil complaint against a McAdoo woman over injuries he sustained while being struck by a vehicle operated by the defendant, while he was performing duties associated with his position.

Michael Morresi, of Hudson Street, Weatherly, filed the action against Katherine A. Shigo, 117 Bayview Ave., McAdoo.

According to the suit, on Nov. 8, 2016, Morresi was placing flares in a crosswalk as directed by the borough’s mayor along Broad Street (Route 93), and holding a flashlight which was illuminated when he was struck by Shigo’s vehicle. The suit claims Morresi, who as acting in his capacity as a police officer, suffered serious and permanent injuries which are detailed in the suit.

The suit alleges negligence and carelessness against the defendant for those injuries and sought are damages in excess of $50,000 on each of two counts plus interest, costs and delay damages on each of two counts.
