Carbon County Navy Club needs members

Dear Editor,

Please note the Carbon County Navy Club Ship 260 is in trouble.

We keep advertising for members. The original membership has gone down to around 14 members.

Between members dying off and younger veterans not joining, we have to stop doing some of the things we do.

To start, we have to stop doing our Honor the Flag program for schools and other organizations.

We’re one of the newest and smallest veteran organizations, and we’ve been taking part in about every veteran function.

If this keeps up, we’ll soon be gone. Our dues are about the lowest at $15 a year for regular members and $10 for associates; and we take Army and Air Force veterans and civilians as associate members. Regular members are Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard.

We meet the last Monday of each month at the Nesquehoning VFW at 7 p.m.

Any veteran organizations that wish to take over the flag program, contact the Navy Club through the VFW.
