Carbon County court

A total of 11 defendants facing drug-related counts entered guilty pleas on Monday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:

Drug overdose

Lewis Lloyd Searfoss

, 45, of Lansford, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also pleaded to one count of tampering with evidence.

He was arrested on May 15, 2018, when Lansford police responded to a residence along West Abbott Street for a report of a drug overdose. Searfoss was the person found at the scene who overdosed.

Searfoss, who is an inmate in the county prison facing other charges including fleeing police, has a history of drug and mental health issues. He also is facing a DUI charge in Schuylkill County.

Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment and when released from custody render 50 hours of community service.

He will remain in custody on the pending charges, plus Schuylkill County has a detainer on him for the DUI count.

Other pleas

Ricky Allen Hunsicker

, 33, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance - heroin. He was arrested on July 9, 2018, when Lansford police responded to a residence along West Patterson Street for a report of an unconscious man. Heroin was found at the scene.

Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Travis A. Walck

, 28, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested on June 29, 2018, by Summit Hill police following a vehicle stop. Heroin was noted as the drug involved.

Walck is currently an inmate in the county prison facing a probation violation proceeding.

Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Heather Kokinda

, 30, of Freeland, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance and driving under suspension. He was arrested following a vehicle stop by Weatherly police on Aug. 11, 2018, along Norman Street.

He is currently an inmate in the Luzerne County prison facing other charges.

Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service. On the suspension count he was fined $200 and costs.

Glenn Alan Dunbar

, 58, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on May 12, 2017, by Weatherly police following a traffic stop along East Main Street. A charge of possession of a firearm prohibited was dropped by the DA.

Matika placed him on probation for a year on each count, running concurrently, and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Jessica Marie Snisky

, 23, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, heroin. She was arrested on July 26, 2018, by Nesquehoning police in the 200 block of Center Street.

Sentencing was deferred.

Crystal Michele Jacobus

, 47, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested on May 1, 2018, by Lansford police along West Bertsch Street.

Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service.

Brooke Ann Gettig, 36, and Taylor Anna Martin

, 23, both of White Haven, were arrested on Nov. 23, 2018, following a traffic stop along East Main Street by Weatherly police. Gettig was the driver. Martin originally had 12 counts filed against her, 11 for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gettig was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service. Martin was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and render 50 hours of community service.

David Paul Wolfe

, 33, of Frackville, pleaded to one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Nov. 16, 2017, by Weatherly police following a traffic stop at Carbon and East Main streets.

Matika imposed a fine of $150 and costs.

Calvin Lee Koch

, 20, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Dec. 31, 2018, by state police at Lehighton following an incident in a parking lot off East Lizard Creek Road in Bowmanstown.

Matika imposed a fine of $150 and costs.

Princes Saulas

, 32, of New Castle, Delaware, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Dec. 17, 2018, by state police at Pocono following a traffic stop along the turnpike.

Matika imposed a fine of $300.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee if on probation or parole.
