The following defendants in driving under the influence cases were sentenced on Thursday afternoon by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

The seven defendants previously pleaded guilty to the charges.

Jerome M. Yanchick Jr.

, 34, of Kunkletown, was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the county’s intermediate punishment program, house arrest, with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render 100 hours of community service.

He arrested on April 7, 2017, by Kidder Township police along Route 903. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He will begin the jail term at 8 p.m. on July 26 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.

Schylar Tomas Brunner

, 23, of Boyertown, Berks County, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He was arrested by Weatherly police along Main Street on April 5, 2017. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. Aug. 5.

Charles Nicholas Veet

, 47, of Kelayres, was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of driving under the suspension, he was fined $500.

He arrested on Feb. 11, 2017, by state police at Hazleton along Market Street in Banks Township. A test revealed a 0.20 BAC.

He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. July 24.

Lisa Neff

, 55, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of driving under suspension - DUI related, she was sentenced to serve 45 to 90 days in jail followed by 59 months in the IPP with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring.

She arrested on May 6, 2018, by Mahoning Township police along Hemlock Drive after being involved in a crash. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. Aug. 5.

Candi Marie Grauvogel

, 38, of Lehighton, was sentenced on two counts of DUI. On the first count she was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension. On the second count, she was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the IPP, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, and render a total of 100 hours of community service. The prison terms run concurrently.

She was given credit for 22 days already served and will begin serving the remaining eight days starting a 7 p.m. on July 26, two days, Aug. 2, two days and Aug. 9 four days.

She was arrested on May 6, 2016, by Lehighton police along Route 443 and on May 27, 2014, by Palmerton police along Route 248. In the second case, she had been placed in the ARD program but was revoked for violating conditions.

Nieko Eric Evans

, 39, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. He was given credit for six days already served and paroled.

He was arrested on Dec. 9, 2018, along Abbott Street by Lansford police. He refused a test.

Michael Lower

, 42, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 90 days to 60 months in prison, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render 100 hours of community service.

He was arrested on May 18, 2018, along Bertsch Street by Lansford police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He will begin the jail term on July 22 at 9 a.m. He was granted work release privileges.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
