Carbon County court

A Lehighton man pleaded guilty to an assault count and contraband charge on Monday in Carbon County court.

He was one of nine defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Relative victim

Devin Austin Marshall

, 22, pleaded to one count each of simple assault and contraband — possession of a controlled substance.

Marshall was arrested on the assault count on May 18 by state police at Lehighton who responded to a domestic incident at a home along Wagner Street in Franklin Township. Marshall assaulted a family member.

The contraband count stems from an incident on Dec. 2, 2018, at the county prison when he was found with illegal substances. He is currently an inmate in the county prison facing a probation violation proceeding.

On the assault count, Matika sentenced him to time-served (59 days) to 23 months in prison and on the contraband count 21 months probation, with the terms running concurrently.

He was also ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, attend and successfully complete an anger management course, render 100 hours of community service and have no contact with the victims.

Two counts

Mariah Lee Lewis

, 26, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to two counts of flight to avoid apprehension and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested on April 11, 2017, by Lansford police who attempted to serve a warrant. The other arrest occurred on March 29 by Lehighton police during another attempt to serve a warrant.

Matika placed her on probation for 18 months on each count, running concurrently, and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 75 hours of community service.

Lewis is currently an inmate in the Schuylkill County prison serving a parole violation sentence.

Ruby C. Williams

, 41, of Wind Gap, pleaded to one count of theft with a retail theft count dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office. She was arrested on Aug. 3, 2017, at the Walmart store by Mahoning Township police.

Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to make restitution of $137.71 to Walmart, render 50 hours of community service and to stay out of the Walmart store in Mahoning Township.

Stephen Wayne Gallagher

, 35, of Lake Harmony, pleaded to two counts of harassment, as summary offenses. He was arrested on Oct. 23, 2018, by Kidder Township police for an incident at a residence along Lupine Drive in Lake Harmony. The victims were his parents.

Matika imposed a fine of $100 on each count plus costs. He also must make restitution of $90, which has already been paid.

Carley Ermina Contrevo

, 21, of Walnutport, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store. The stolen items were recovered.

Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service and to stay out of the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. The term runs concurrent with a probation period she is serving in Northampton County.

Eric D. Roden

, 43, of Orefield, Lehigh County, pleaded to one count of operating a vehicle without an interlock system. He was arrested on Jan. 1 by state police at Lehighton following a vehicle stop along Route 209 in Franklin Township.

Matika placed him on probation for three months.

Mark Alan Honish

, 51, of Audenreid, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense, with a count of simple assault dropped in a plea deal with the DA’s office. He was arrested on April 4 by state police at Hazleton following an incident at a residence along Tamaqua Street in Banks Township.

Matika imposed a fine of $100 and costs.

David A. Vanhorn

, 58, of Kunkletown, pleaded to one count of disorderly conduct, as a summary offense, with a charge of possession of a controlled substance dropped in a plea deal with the DA’s office. He was arrested on March 20, 2017, by Kidder Township police along Route 534.

Matika imposed a fine of $100 and costs.

DUI count

Reinaldo Magobet

, 43, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count each of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Feb. 4 by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Magobet is currently an inmate in the county prison serving a nine to 23 months term imposed last week by Judge Steven R. Serfass on an assault charge.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
