A Carbon County woman admitted in the county court on Monday to driving drunk with two juveniles in her vehicle.

She was one of six defendants in pending driving under the influence cases to plead to DUI and related offenses before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Thorpe incident

Stephanie Marie Fairchild

, 36, of Lehighton, pleaded in two pending cases to two counts of DUI and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

She was arrested on Dec. 7, 2016, by Jim Thorpe police along Allen Street. At the stop police said two juveniles were in the vehicle. The second arrest occurred on April 4, 2017, by state police at Lehighton along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township. In both cases tests revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Fairchild is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on a probation violation charge.

Serfass deferred sentencing so Fairchild can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Other pleas

Jarret Walter Berger

, 20, of Slatington, was arrested on Nov. 4, 2017, by Franklin Township police along Route 248. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Berger is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on a DUI charge. Serfass told him he is facing a mandatory one to two years in jail on the Carbon count at the time of sentencing.

Sentencing was deferred so Berger can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Janet Nichols

, 54, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 28, 2017, by Lehighton police in the area of the Carbon Mini Mart at South First and Iron streets. Nicholas also pleaded to one count of simple assault.

She struck a pedestrian while backing out of a parking space. In a plea bargain a charge of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI was dropped by the district attorney’s office.

Sentencing was deferred so Nichols can apply for placement in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program — house arrest.

Teresa E. Hubbard

, 41, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Jan. 26 by state police at Fern Ridge along Wild Creek Drive in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed a 0.26 BAC.

Sentencing was deferred.

John Reppert

, 28, of Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 6 by Lehighton police along First Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so Reppert can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Jessalyn Maree Rider

, 25, of Weatherly, was arrested on Sept. 9, 2016, along Jamestown Street by Mahoning Township police. She refused a test.

She is currently an inmate in the county prison.

A first offense, Serfass placed her on probation for six months and ordered her to pay a fine of $300, render 25 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation and follow any recommendation of her drug and alcohol evaluation.
