Carbon County Commissioners award contracts

Carbon County Commissioners awarded contracts for its storage building and work at Mauch Chunk Lake Park.

On Thursday, the commissioners approved contracts with F.J. Lesher Inc. of Palmerton for the construction of a 160-by-45-foot storage building at the farthest end of the county-owned parking lot at a cost of $592,000; and Larry McCullion and Son Electrical Construction Services LLC of Summit Hill for electrical work in the building at a cost of $59,120.

The bids were opened on March 22.

The county also awarded a contract for paving work at Mauch Chunk Lake Park to Gaver Industries Inc., doing business as Barker & Barker Paving and Excavating of Bethlehem. The company bid $99,847.50 for the four parts of the project, which includes the paving of the swimming area parking lot, pavilion entrance and exit lanes, boat launch B and the Penn State Extension parking area.

The paving project will be paid for through the parking fund, which is generated by parking fees in the county-owned parking lot.
