The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting last week:

• Accepted correspondence from the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole announcing Carbon County’s 2018-19 grant-in-aid application for the improvement of adult probation services has been approved. Carbon County will receive a total of $60,486 in two installments for the reimbursement of eligible salaries of professional staff. The amount represents 28.2 percent of the salaries in question.

• Authorized the advertisement of the cancellation of the Carbon County Election Board meetings on the second Thursday of every month. Commissioner William O’Gurek abstained from the vote. The meetings will be held at another time and will be advertised at a later date.

Personnel

• Sheriff appointment: Mollie J. Watts, Lehighton, from civil process clerk, effective March 11.

• Hire: Brynn M. Masten, Jim Thorpe, part-time dispatcher trainee, communications center, effective March 11.
