Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday. Commissioner Thomas J. Gerhard was absent.

• Ratified a senior center grant in the amount of $37,911 for a new 14-passenger van for the senior center activities/trips for all senior center consumers.

• Reappointed Robin D. Cressley of Lehighton to a four-year term as a public director and Wayne E. Nothstein to a one-year term as the commissioner representative on the Conservation District board.

• Reappointed Beverly Zipp of Lehighton to a five-year term on the housing authority.

• Approved an agreement with Oasis Management System Inc. of Georgia for the exclusive right to continue operating all inmate commissary sales and services at the Carbon County Correctional Facility. The agreement runs Jan. 1 through Jan. 31, 2024, and will renew automatically for successive one-year terms unless terminated by either party.

• Approved the resignation of Theresa C. Rossman of Blakeslee, 911 operator, effective Dec. 4.

• Hired Morgan C. Costy of Seltzer, part-time dispatcher/trainee, communications center, effective Dec. 10; and Margaret A. Sandefer of Lehighton, part-time dispatcher/trainee, effective Dec. 12.

• Approved the court appointment of Lisa A. Herman of Jim Thorpe, department clerk III, court administration, effective Dec. 10.

• Approved the changes of status for Jessica M. Pruitte of Jim Thorpe from legal secretary III, public defender’s office, to public defender office manager, effective Dec. 10; and Rebecca A. Cancelliere of Jim Thorpe, from part-time adult probation department clerk I, to adult probation treatment court specialist, effective Jan. 2.
