Carbon commissioners approve personnel matters

Carbon County Commissioners met to take care of a few items Monday following the annual county salary board meeting.

Not much business was on the weekly agenda, which replaced the board’s normal meeting on Thursday.

The commissioners approved the reappointment of Craig Zurn of Jim Thorpe to the industrial development board. The five-year term runs to Dec. 31, 2023.

The board also approved the employment separation of Samantha M. Yurchak of Nesquehoning, part-time cleaning person; and Jennifer L. Dempsey of Weatherly, deputy coroner, both effective Jan. 7.

In addition, the commissioners hired Kimberly M. Solt of Lehighton as an accountant II in Area Agency on Aging, effective Jan. 14; approved the internship of Sierra Keegan of Jim Thorpe in the adult probation office from Jan. 22 to May 3; and approved the leave of absence extension of Michael S. Hatcher of New Tripoli to Feb. 13.

The next meeting of the Carbon County Board of Commissioners will be at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 17.
